Quantae Johnson

Although Quantae “Q” Johnson was introduced to the bass guitar as a young child, he did not express an interest in mastering the instrument until the age of 16. Until then, he played the drums in his family’s bay-area quartet group. Upon graduating high school, he was accepted to the Musician’s Institute in Hollywood, California. While a student at the Musician’s Institute, Q learned to read music and excelled in Bass Performance. From that point on, his career began to take off.

While living in Hollywood and attending the Musician’s Institute, Q got involved in the music scene, playing for local artists, and local churches. After completing courses at MI, Q got offered an opportunity to join the cast of Man in the Mirror, a Michael Jackson tribute tour. The tour originated in Reno, Nevada, and traveled to Beruit, Lebanon, and Amman, Jordan, in an effort to share entertainment, and spread the legacy of Michael Jackson, in these war-torn countries.

After returning from the Man in the Mirror Tour, Q played for such artists as the soulful, Stacy Barthe, and the eclectic, Michael Bernard Fitzgerald. Most recently, Q joined 1500 or Nothin’, a talented production company based in Los Angeles. As a part of 1500 or Nothin’, Q plays bass and sings background in the gospel quartet group, The Zion Messengers. Currently, Q is traveling with Lil Wayne’s America’s Most Wanted Tour, where he plays bass for rapper, TI.
